Hey Social media lovers
It’s a great day in the virtual world! This week I received a few emails about “what the hell is going on with Facebook.” I get a lot of these very often because Facebook is FOREVER changing something (roll eyes). Instead of me answering the emails individually I thought I would just write a lovely blog about the recent changes to Facebook. Now by the time you read this blog, I will probably have ten more things to add lol.
1. Layout of the business page
Facebook business page layout is a little different these days. In my opinion, it is cleaner and helps attract your potential customer to your call to action. The various tables are now on the left-hand side, and your profile picture is no longer on top of your cover photo. I also like that the analytics of the page is front and center so that you are aware immediately of your numbers (remember data is important to know in business).
2. Now able to create an offer right from your page
Previously before you would have to search for the little button to create an offer/event. Now with the new Facebook update, the offer button is front and center. You are now able to directly create an offer/event from the front of your home page.
3. Service Tab
This is one of my new favorite features (5 points for Facebook). Facebook now has a tab that allows you to list your services. Now clients and potential clients do not have to go to your website to see what you offer they are now able to see that directly from Facebook. You have to be very strategic on this feature because you want to make sure that you are still leading customers to your site to collect their contact information. Facebook goal is to keep individuals on Facebook for as long as possible, but you have to make sure you implement smart strategies for your business.
4. No more text rules for Ads
OMG, can you believe this? FINALLY Facebook found their minds they lost and realized that the 20% rule they had for ads wasn’t the best idea to generate money through their ad feature. If you didn’t know this before Facebook would not allow you to have more than 20% of words on pictures, you were utilizing for an ad. They based it off a grid. Now Facebook allows you to use more than 20% of words on pictures (thank you social media Gods) but ranks your picture on a scale of how well it will perform based on some words. So basically the fewer words, the more people it will reach.
5. Lead ads
This is a new feature that allows businesses to collect leads from users without sending them to a website (one time for the social media Gods again). So instead of you having to now send customers to your website. Facebook is very strategic and again want to keep people on their platform as long as possible. This is a super plus for businesses because now you have another way to collect data to perform additional marketing techniques on potential customers. Lead ads allow the users to click on an image and it flips over to a form, which pre-fills the information (name & email address). BOOM!! I love this new feature.
Although Facebook can surely irk our nerves with new updates, I think these recent updates are the bomb dot com and can help business owners to win using social media marketing.
Thank me later for keeping you in the 411 with Facebook
