Answers to all your Non- ENTREPRENEUR Friend’s Questions

Answers to All-2

Hi there Entrepreneur!

How many times have you told your 9 to 5, paper-pushing, always complaining about their job friends about your awesome, difficult, rewarding, fulfilling, sleepless, fan-freaking-tastic life as an entrepreneur? They meet your enthusiasm with the famous blank stare and you wonder how people could be so confused about chasing their dreams. Are you sick and tired of your non-entrepreneur friends asking you a ton of questions about your BAWSE status? Because let’s admit being an entrepreneur is pretty boss in every sense of the word! Well, you 9 to 5ers, I have a couple questions and few answers for you! Hopefully, the next time your friends throw you into the interrogation room, you’ll have some rebuttals that help them understand your life as a BAWSE… I mean entrepreneur… and maybe even inspire them to follow suit!

  1. Why don’t you just get a job and have steady income?

Why do you sacrifice your dreams for just a job and an income? To be honest, I would much rather live on a budget while I chase my dreams than allow my dreams to pass me by while I invest my time and expertise into someone else’s dreams. Success is an inevitable outcome of hard work and discipline.

  1. Don’t you want to go out and have drinks instead of working your life away?

Absolutely! Let’s set up a date to toast to me becoming a self-made millionaire! Until then, I’ll enjoy my PayPal alerts for incoming coins and watch my savings stack up. That’s my idea of “steady” income! You say I’m working my life away. I say I’m building legacy!

  1. How do you stay focused or motivated?

Baby, if your dreams don’t motivate you, they aren’t big enough! This is not Disney World; the only way my dreams are coming true is if I stay focused and work at them daily. If I don’t stay focused, I don’t eat and, honey, I love a good meal!

  1. Are you really still up?

Are you really still sleeping on your dreams? Of course I’m still up! I have to do lists, milestones and goals that must be accomplished before I think about sleep. And, no, it can’t wait until tomorrow. Tomorrow has it’s own set of tasks to be accomplished. I would say, “I’ll sleep when I’m a millionaire,” but I’ve already made plans to go out and get those drinks with you! We established that I don’t miss a meal and I certainly wouldn’t break a date.

  1. You own a business why are you still on a schedule?

Discipline, my friend, separates the dreamers from the doers. Just because I own a business doesn’t mean I don’t need a schedule. Yes, being an entrepreneur gives me the liberty to not be tied down to a work schedule, but how would I ever get anything done? Remember those to do lists? They don’t do themselves!

Entrepreneurship is not for everyone. It takes a different mindset, self-control and level of obedience to your call to be your own boss. I’ve learned in my journey that it’s extremely important to surround yourself with individuals who get it! If your friends don’t understand your drive or your journey, then they might not be the friends for you! It’s not always easy to stand on your own. For me, it has been an indescribable experience that I wouldn’t be able to persevere through without the right people in my corner! I’m not telling you to stop being friends with all your non-entrepreneur friends, but I am telling you, whoever is not willing to rise with you is dragging you down.

OMG!!! When I decided to give Corporate America the boot and go after my dreams of starting my own business these are the exact questions people asked me. In the beginning I would get super frustrated but after time went on and I started surrounding myself with other entrepreneurs I began to snap back with answers like the ones in your blog post.

    This is a great post!

LOL Tracy! It does get annoying and then when you answer they look at you crazy but if they are real friends they will understand and eventually get it. BUT when I surrounded myself with more entrepreneurs I was getting asked challenging questions that made me reevaluate things in my business that help it grow and I was excited lol.
