Have you ever thought of building a partnership using social media? Have you ever contacted someone you found on social media and wanted to work with them?
Although many people hate the fact that social media is growing, it isn’t going anywhere and the best plan of action is to create a plan that will work for you and your business. It’s more to social media than selling your product and services. You can leverage these platforms to building strong partnerships and strategic relationships.
A few years ago when I launched my consulting business, I tapped into one of the secrets to social media marketing success, partnerships!! As I scrolled through hashtags, I came across some amazing people (and businesses) and knew that we could be beneficial to each other if we worked together. Instead of being in competition with others that are doing similar things you are doing, work together and have a bigger impact!! This is exactly what I did. I found other business owners that were doing things I admired and reached out to them to work together on different projects.
Building partnerships on social media can be a little daunting. Some people aren’t who they really say they are or doing the things they portray they are doing. However, there are some key things you can do to build strong partnerships with other business owners utilizing social media.
First, do your research! Social media is overloaded with “business owners”. Before you partner with anyone, make sure you fact check! Research the business owner and their business to make sure it is a good fit for you. Bad relationships can do a lot of damage to your business. There is no haste when picking the right partnerships. You want to find people that may provide something that your business doesn’t, but is directly related to your business or your audience’s lifestyle. For example, if you are a Business Consultant partnering with a Financial Coach can be beneficial to you both! Most, if not all, businesses should have testimonials on their website. Reach out to their former clients and get feedback. On your social media marketing calendar plan time where you are doing research and finding people to work with.
Second, attend events or workshops where your potential partner is the host or speaker. This gives you an opportunity to see the content they are presenting and decided if it is a good fit for you. If it is a live event, guess what, you are now able to introduce yourself in person and build a relationship there.
You have done your research and it is time to reach out to them. When you reach out don’t just ASK for what you want. Build a rapport with them and indicate how you can help them as well. It is important that the partnership can bring value to both sides. Create an idea that has longevity and mutual benefits for everyone involved! Ensure you are building lasting partnerships that will ultimately bring value over a long period of time. Hold up your end of the bargain and follow up with you new business partner/friend!
Partnerships are the key to a successful business. All your favorite big brands rely on partnerships to expand their audience and gain additional profit. If they are doing it, there must be value in it! Leverage social media and build partnerships!!
