Happy Wisdom Wednesday!
Last week and this week has been very challenging! Where do I start? It all started with me feeling overwhelmed and defeated by my dissertation. Although I know everyone who has gone through the process say this is normal I felt horrible. I wanted to GIVE UP! I honestly felt like I was in over my head with getting this degree. I literally CRIED for about an hour. Then I prayed for another hour and called one of my good friends (Jasmine Simms of Scrub Nail Boutique) to vent. She did what any great friend would do, yelled at me and told me to get myself together.
Often as leaders we forget that we need our dose of motivation and empowerment. If we continue to pour into others and not pour into ourselves or get someone to pour into us we will begin to become drained and exhausted. This is exactly what happen to me.
I came across a quote “The Happiness of your Day is Determined by the Quality of your thoughts” and something instantly clicked in my head. I realize that I was in control of my mood (something I tell other people ALL the time). I asked myself, “why do you think you are way over your head,” “who says you are defeated,” “Why would you even consider giving up,” and “Do you think you would have made it this far if God wanted you to give up.” I immediately jumped up and starting reciting my affirmations. I turned my negative thoughts into positive ones. I went and took a long look at my vision board and focused in on my goal of “Dr. Tammira Lucas.” I literally did what Aaliyah the singer said “dust myself off and tried again.”
Be in control of your success! Be in control of your thoughts and remember they will determine your capabilities. You can literally accomplish the unthinkable if you think you can!
